Palm Sunday shall take on a whole new meaning for me this year. I am awestruck by what Jesus said AND did to display His messianic authority on Palm Sunday and in the following days...
Matthew's Gospel (chapter 21) highlights seven things that speak to what a magnificent Savior the Lord Jesus Christ truly is:
- Jesus entered the temple area upon his arrival [He goes right to His Father's House]
- Jesus upsets all the tables of the merchants who were clogging the courts [where the women and the Gentiles were supposed to worship]
- Jesus proclaimed the entire area to be a house of prayer [for all nations, all peoples -Isaiah 56]
- Jesus heals the lame and blind people who found Him in the temple area [they had previously been banned from entering]
- Jesus receives praise from children who followed him into the temple area [they were crying out, “Hosanna to the Son of David!"]
- Jesus defends them against the indignation of the Chief Priests [by quoting Psalm 8:2]
- Jesus leaves Jerusalem daily and goes to Bethany to spend the nights [He doesn't seize political power]
"Praise and Laurels [to the] Messiah" this P.A.L.M. Sunday
- Praise = Hosanna
- Laurels = Palm Branches
Hosanna in the highest! Yours Truly, Daniel
